I'll assume that everyone here is old enough to drink responsibly (unless you're a poor American who has to wait until he/she is 21... my sympathies, in that case).
Besides, even though we talked about various beverages on the old forum, I don't think we ever had a thread like this. So this could be interesting. Here are my picks:
Favourite clear vodka: tie between
Chopin Rye Vodka (arguably the best and smoothest spirit ever, but very expensive) and
Stolichnaya (much cheaper than the former, but still a fantastic tasting mid-range vodka).
Favourite nalewka/nastoyka/nastoyanka: tie between
Soplica – Pigwowa (this is a quince flavoured Soplica, really quite amazing) and
Żołądkowa Gorzka (you can't really get better than this yummy mix of fruits and various herbs).
Favourite flavoured vodka: Żubrówka (a classic flavour; although produced industrially only since the 20th century, the bison grass recipe has been used in Poland since the times of the Polish Commonwealth - if not even earlier!)
Favourite Scotch whisky: Johnnie Walker – Black Label (my brother got me into this; while I'm not a whisky expert, since I've always been more into vodka, I do know that Scotch is superior to most other types and this is one of the best of the best... it's actually what Deckard drinks in Blade Runner from 1982).
Favourite dark ale: tie between
Theakston Old Peculier and
Newcastle Brown Ale (the first spot in this category used to be held by Guinness, but I just can't go back to it after trying those two, they are just so much better... most of Britain's vodka may be bad, but they sure do know a thing or two about beer).
Favourite pale ale: Duvel (one of the best countries in the world for beer must be Belgium and Duvel is so delicious that it's a perfect testament to that).
Favourite lager brand: tie between
Prażubr and
Żubr Ciemnozłoty (these are both variants of Żubr, the former an unpasteurised version and the latter a darker and stronger one; both are great, but I can't deny that I'm a fan of the animal on the label too heh; the winner for this category is hard to pick actually, since there are so many lagers out there that are easily available; honourable mentions go to
Kozel and
Estrella Damm).
Favourite cider brand: Thatchers (again, there are just as many great cider brands I've tried as there are ones for lager, but in order to not make this post any longer than it needs to be I'm just gonna with good old apple cider from Thatchers).
