Your dream gun Empty
PostSubject: Your dream gun   Your dream gun EmptyTue May 09, 2017 1:54 pm

This is the place where we can fantasize about the perfect firearm; it doesn't have to be something that would be objectively best from a tactical point of view, but just something that you would like to exist so that you could own it and fire it every now and then at the range (and please let's not turn this thread into a discussion about gun ownership & carry laws, m'kay? danke schön). If you have a picture or you would like to make one, that's even better. You don't have to be an expert, everyone is welcome to share their ideas as long as we don't get too creative and fantastical. Let's try to keep it realistic. Smile

I'll start us off...

My ideal gun would probably have to be a modern assault rifle, obviously with selective fire as that is pretty much a standard in many automatic weapons these days. The rough shape/outline and the iconic look of a classic Kalash (the AK-47) would be a must for me because I'm in love with that shape. :P With this also comes a relative degree of reliability and toughness, as the Kalashnikov rifles have proven their worth in harsh environmental conditions. The stopping power of the 7.62×39mm cartridge, as well as the nice kick it has when you shoot, goes without question. An adjustable stock for added comfort and versatility, like that of a short Saiga-12 variant, would also be nice. Similarly, a rail (like that of the AK-12) for attachments on the top section of the rifle would be great too. Overall, a sleek and elegant, black, metallic finish like the basic AK-103 would make it all look quite stylish.

In fact, I made up this weapon years ago and created an edited image of it - back when I was younger and still into NationStates. It was to be the pride of a fictional Eastern European federation's military - the AKM perfected and modernised, you could say. So, below I've included the picture I made ages ago. Now I've decided to call it the "Żubr-81" (Żubr or Зубр is the Slavic word for the majestic European Bison).

Żubr-81:

I was using the AK-103 as a basis for this, but added various parts of the AK-12, the AK-47, and the Saiga-12 to the design to make it look unique and new. Below is the original image I worked from.

AK-103:

I hope you liked my idea. Now I'm interested to see what others come up with. Guns

Realistic meaning "doesn't break the laws of thermodynamics" or "made using currently existing technology"?

I guess both, but the latter can be bypassed if there are already relatively functional prototypes of the technology available. And probably best to limit this to small arms as well.

I love what you did to that AK, it looks a lot more personalized now and a little more rough Smile
And that SR-3m looks amazing! Freak
I'm a big fan of the AKS-74U:
Spoiler:

And I am desperately in love with the AA-12, especially with explosive shells and a drum-mag:
Spoiler:

But all in all, my absolute most desired gun in the world, is the H&K G36!
Here you get a really good long-range and CQC rifle with a great scope that has a 2-in-1 function. (Long-range scope and holo-sight). And with a grenade launcher attached, this thing is just unbeatable, and it looks so damn awesome! They also use it in Stargate Universe.

Tbh I was hoping for more personal inventions rather than picking real guns, but this is good too. :P

That Avtomat Dragunova looks quite interesting; although I'm not a fan of those folding, metal buttstocks - simply due to how uncomfortable they are in comparison to a normal, full-size, non-folding wooden or polymer one (I can't remember which rifle or SMG it was that I fired with a folding metal stock, it might have been a PRL era gun though). Still, useful in terms of how portable it is. And I'm a big fan of the G36 too! Never had a chance to fire it in real life so far, and probably never will, but it looks kickass and it was probably my most-used gun in the Stalker games trilogy.

Since we're also talking about real-life weapons, I have to mention the SKS and the Vis. The SKS is a Soviet semi-automatic rifle that never saw much use or popularity due to it being designed/produced not long before the Kalash, which made it a very outdated firearm that was nowhere near as useful for the changing modern battlefield. It is, however, possibly my favourite gun ever of the 10 that I have had the pleasure of firing in real life thus far. I don't know why exactly, but I just love it and shooting with it is a blast.

The SKS:

And the Vis pistol is possibly one of the best and most revolutionary handguns of the interwar/WWII period. I haven't had a chance to use it myself yet, but I would love to someday. It is a 9mm, semi-automatic, single-action pistol that was inspired by the Browning Hi-Power design. The Vis must be the best Polish gun ever, at least when thinking of the time when it was produced and its competition back then. It saw some use on the Polish side during the war, but when the Nazis invaded and took over the munitions factory in Radom they liked it so much that they started producing even more copies of it for the Wehrmacht.
