| There is a Hunter's audio log in a Ranger hideout in the Dead City, a message left by him to other members of the Order. In the English dub it says: - Spoiler:
Red, I took the heavy gear with me and went north to Exhibition. They're having huge problems with our old friends. If I'm not back in a couple of days, gather our men, and tell the colonel. Good luck.
In the Russian dub it says: - Spoiler:
Я вооружился по полной и отправился на север, на ВДНХ. Похоже, у них там проблемы с нашими старыми друзьями. Если я не вернусь через пару дней, сообщи полковнику и собери наших людей. Удачи!
Both are virtually identical and both mention the same entity so it's not a translation error. - Spoiler:
In the 2035 book it is revealed that the Dark Ones were not an unknown threat. In fact the Invisible Watchers knew they weren't an immideate threat and influenced Polis to deny help to Exhibition, hoping to keep them as an ace in the hole for future use, in case an outside threat to humanity was required for example.
It appears that Hunter knew about the Dark Ones and arrived to Exhibition to assess the threat, sending Artyom on his quest and kicking the events that transpired in 2033, 2034 and 2035 off.

I have a feeling that book!metro and game!metro is a separate continuity, the lack of D6, the absense of dark one plot from last light and other character. I dont think the Invisible watcher from metro 2035 is same like the remnant of central metro command from the games, if we are saying the tower pack dlc is cannon and indeed happening

| From commentary by the creators of both, it sounds like they are separate but parrarel continuities. Dialog in 2035 hints at a series of events similar to the finale of last light for example. But the descriptions of stations and events in the novels rarely match up to what we see in the game, and the overall tone is much different in each. | |
