New motorcycle and license!

Well, I've talked about it earlier, and I finally went and done it; I realized my childhood dream of getting a motorcycle and the license!
I got the bike last week, and the license on wednesday, and I've been more or less riding it ever since, except for sleeping and eating
Today, for example, I drove north to the snowy mountains (the roads were dry, not a cloud in the sky) and back, for about seven hours.
Here's a couple photos of me with my full "gear" on my new bike.

It's a Honda Rebel 500 with 46hp. It's not the most powerful thing, but it certainly goes fast weighing about 200kg! :D

A friend of mine is always trying to convince me to get myself a license and buy his old bike (which is quite nice), but I don't have the money at the moment. Still, if he doesn't sell it to anyone else, I might actually end up doing that at some point. Would be pretty cool to attend a forum meet-up on motorbikes, eh?

Hell yeah, it'd be kickass. If I do get a motorbike at some point, and have the money at the time, I could drive all the way to Norway too. Haha, in fact it would be awesome to explore your country as well as it always seemed like a pretty cool place to me.

It is indeed. The roads might not be the best, but you can't beat the view once you get further north into the mountains, and it's a lot of fun with those curvy roads when you're on a motorcycle. And at the same time, you can wear proper motorcycle gear without melting into a puddle when standing still, because it isn't too hot, but at the same time you won't freeze your *** off in high speed

Skaara, I am unable to view the photos you've uploaded of your motor-hobo-cycle The spoiler tag drops down, but the images don't appear. I've tried viewing them in 3 different browsers already.....no luck. It has to be something on my end, though, since Bamul has mentioned to me that the photo's are working for him.

So I showed this to my friend, who is really into motorbikes and owns several; this is what he had to say:

"its a lovely bike. Totally jealous. Just tell him to keep an eye on the matt painted exhaust as they are prone to rusting in wet weather. And to watch out when he takes it for his first service as they are VERY expensive the first time u get a Honda serviced"

Thanks for the advice! I'll keep my eye on that exhaust, but I always keep the bike under a bike-cover, and rarely drive it in the rain. And I'll most likely be doing my first service at an independent MC dealership who offers this specific bike

I also got a new bike, so I thought I add here if you don't mind. I have ridden a 125ccm 4 stroke supermoto for the last 10 years, and during the last few years I have ridden less and less, because it was uncomfortable and weak for me. Not that I want a powerhouse by any means, but it os not safe to try to overtake with such a weak bike. At first I wanted a Ducati Multistrada 620 but it turned out that you need to spend a lot of money to keep her running, so I quickly changed my mind. Back in a few years my father had an Aprilia Pegaso Strada, which he sold a 2-3 years ago with very small amount of kms in her, so I thought that bike would be nice for me as well. As it turned out he would have kept it if I share the cost with him. He had a dream like bike but back in 2007 was a completely new bike, so it was a bit expensive for him, so didn't pull the trigger. He suggested that bike to me, and I got her.

Granted, not the best picture, but since the bike is still waiting for license plate, and other paperwork the bike is still at he sellers place. She was imported from Italy with less then 17k kms.

Hey man sorry for the late reply but I somehow didn't see your message before now. That is a sweet bike, man! 650cc? How many HP does it have and what year is it from?

Yes, she is 650 ccm. As far as I know this version have 64 HP and 60NM torque, the engine itself is capable more (in the Kawasaki ER6N and in the Ninja 650 for example). My bike is 2009, after it they made a facelift in 2010, and 2015 got a complete re-degsin. Since 2015 the HP is 69 and torque is 62-ish, I might wrong in this one. If you are interested I can post some pictures, because she is home a while ago, and I was able to ride her for a short while.

Well it is supposed be an "entry" level adventure sport tourer bike. So far I didn't ridden her all that much, 10 kms at most, but I can tell, that I felt like that I could ride all day without all that much issue. We shall see soon-ish I hope.

Noice! One of my mates, who has been a biker for a few years now, really wants me to buy his old one (he is giving me a good deal on it) - only I don't really have the money for a licence or petrol/upkeep atm. Still, if I ever do get it, I would love to go with him on a bike ride across Europe and we could meet up with yous too. Would be kickass to do a kind of U-shaped journey spanning England, Hungary, Poland, and all the way to Norway.

Very cool indeed. The gas (petrol) mileage for a bike is crazy for a full tank. Be sure to wear safety gear fellas.... Please. I know it can be hot and uncomfortable, but skimping out on safety isn't worth an injury.

And If I get a motorcycle, I'm planning on adding some water propellers so I can drive across the ocean and meet up with you all.

Amphibious motorcycle.... sweeeet! :D

I do wear protective gear, I've a full leather suit with reinforcements in the knees, elbows, shoulders and butt, and I also wear a big back protection plate inside. It's 100% wind-proof and keeps me nice and warm 'cause even during the warmest summerdays, the air gets a little cold on a motorcycle in Norway as soon as you get up to about 60km/h.

Buuuut I do a lot of jump-on jump-off, hang around and cruise around in town with the bike and it's such a pain to have to suit up everytime, and it just gets too hot when riding around in town and stopping here and there. So, I bought protective motorcycle-clothing! Sneakers that look like your everyday sneakers, but they're made for riding so they've got all the reinforcement that they need to have. Pants that're made of a slide-proof/burn-proof and water-resistant material but still look like jeans, with protection on the hips and the knees. A hoodie with full burn-proof kevlar-lining and reinforcements in shoulders, elbows and the back, and a leather vest on top of that
