So this time it is I that needs help apparently. I've played the game without problems earlier a while back with my current headset and it worked great, but today when I went back into the game, it wouldn't launch. Eventually when I got it started in safe-mode, the sound was very weird with a strange static noise and I could barely hear anything muffled from the game's sound. I went online and googled the problem, and one guy said his wireless headset was the problem. So I unplugged my Steelseries Siberia 800 wireless headset and switched to my speakers. The game would still only launch in safe-mode, but now at least the sound works. This is so odd because I've been able to use the headset with the game before, could there have been a faulty patch or something since then? Does anybody have a clue?

There have been no updates to the games recently. This is unlikely to be a problem with the game though. You might want to reinstall the sound drivers and then go from there.

Yeah that's good advice thanks, but all my drivers and software are up to date, that's the thing.

It would still be a good idea to remove all of your current sound drivers completely and then do a fresh reinstall, as they often linger after they're uninstalled and corrupt the software (same goes for graphics drivers).

Well, turns out that neither Windows nor even the Mobo Utility itself could detect that the drivers were outdated, they actually said clearly that the drivers were up to date.
But I conctacted Koch Media Support and sent them a diagnostic report on my system, and they concluded that both my GPU driver and Sound driver were both out of date, so I've managed to update those now but it didn't solve the problem.
Most likely I'll have to update my BIOS as well, but the Utility program that lets me do it via internet or USB won't let me install it, it just says "File doesn't exist! Click any key to continue..."

But I have managed to download the .cap file for updating the BIOS, so I might have to install it by putting it on an external storage device like a USB memory stick and enter BIOS settings upon startup and boot via the usb or something, I'm not really sure.

I've once encountered similar problems back when I was running Windows XP; however, it didn't matter if I was using speakers or headphones (wired). I can't seem to find the options for it in win10, but, in XP, my problems was resolved by lowering one of the values in the the sound card settings. I believe it was called "HARDWARE ACCELERATION."....Well at least I believe it was in the sound card options.

https://help.aol.com/articles/how-to-lower-hardware-acceleration-in-windows-7-8

This link give a tutorial how to find it on more modern OS; however, I was unable to correctly navigate and find it in WIN 10. If it is "HARDWARE ACCELERATION," lower the bar a bit to the left of what you currently have it. Play the game for a bit to see if it still crashes. If it continues, lower the value some more and try again. If that is the problem, the game should run okay after a certain set value.

regardless, I'm not familiar with wireless headsets and how it affects gaming. I just know that this worked form me when using Wired headphones. Keep us updated.

Thanks a lot man, unfortunately I'm somehow unable to click the "Change Settings" button to access the slider; it's grey-faded and won't let me push it. I suppose my monitor doesn't support it?

Well, I got a good deal on a new unused Steelseries Siberia V2 custom "Dragon Army" version nearby at 40% off so I'm using that to play Metro Redux now I guess. Thanks for all the help though! Smile
